1. A noticeable drop in generation
If you track your inverter's daily generation (most modern inverters have an app or display for this), a gradual or sudden drop compared to the same month last year is one of the clearest signs something needs attention — whether that's panel soiling, a faulty string, or shading from something new, like a tree that's grown taller.
2. Visible dust, dirt or bird droppings on panels
