FAQs

Subsidy & Net Metering — common questions

Who is eligible for rooftop solar subsidy?

Central subsidy under the PM Surya Ghar scheme is for residential consumers with their own rooftop and a domestic electricity connection in their name, installing through a registered vendor. Housing societies and residential welfare associations have a separate provision for common-area systems. Commercial, industrial and institutional consumers are not eligible for this residential subsidy, though they can claim accelerated depreciation on the asset.

How does net metering work in Telangana?

Your rooftop system feeds the building first; surplus flows to the grid through a bidirectional meter and is credited in units against what you draw at night. Billing is settled on net consumption, so a well-sized system can cut your bill to the fixed charges alone. The application goes to TGSPDCL or TGNPDCL depending on your district, and requires technical feasibility approval before installation.

How long does the approval process take?

Timelines vary by section office and season, but a residential net metering application generally moves through feasibility, installation, inspection and meter installation over several weeks. The single biggest cause of delay is incomplete documentation at first submission, which is precisely what our filing service is designed to prevent.

Do you charge extra for handling the paperwork?

No. Subsidy registration and net metering filing are included with every rooftop system we install. We handle it because a system that is not net-metered does not deliver the savings we promised, and chasing a section office is not a reasonable thing to hand a customer after taking their money.
